Biography

Laura Hoffman arrived in Frederick County in the spring of 2005. Prior to her move, Laura lived and performed in Northern California where she operated a thriving studio teaching all ages from beginners to beginning professionals. Laura continues to specialize in providing students with a thorough background in technique, classical harp repertoire and theory on both lever and/or pedal harp.

Laura completed undergraduate studies at Northern Arizona University in 1992 and graduated with a Masters in Music, Harp Performance, from the University of Redlands in 1999. She has worked as a professional harpist performing solo and ensemble works throughout the western states and now the east since 1989.

Mrs. Hoffman served as past harpist for the Paradise Symphony Orchestra, Northern California, the Camellia Symphony in Sacramento, the Claremont Concert Orchestra in Southern California, the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra in Northern Arizona, and most recently the Concert Artists of Baltimore.

Aside from teaching and performance engagements, Laura enjoys arranging music for the harp and collaborating with other musicians. She is available for instrument demonstrations with various sizes of harps, which are particularly interesting for school children.

Mrs. Hoffman has been active in promoting the harp and supporting fellow harpists as past president of the Sierra Foothills Chapter of the, which draws membership from four counties in Northern California. She is the founder of the Sierra Foothills Harp Ensemble.
